Sukhumvit can be divided into 3 sections, each with its own distinct characteristics. 

Firstly, Lower Sukhumvit, the area around Asok and Nana BTS Skytrain stations (approximately Soi 1 to Soi 21). This area is known for its bustling street life, shopping malls, nightlife, and a wide range of dining options. It is a popular destination for tourists and expatriates due to its central location and convenient access to transportation.

Secondly, Middle Sukhumvit, the area around Phrom Phong, Thonglor, and Ekkamai. It features upscale shopping centers like Emporium and EmQuartier, popular hotels, a variety of dining choices, and a vibrant nightlife scene. Middle Sukhumvit is also known for its proximity to various international schools, embassies, and hospitals.

Lastly, Upper Sukhumvit, the area around Phrakanong, On Nut, and beyond. This area is primarily residential, with a mix of condominiums, townhouses, and upscale housing estates. It has a more relaxed and quieter atmosphere compared to Lower and Middle Sukhumvit.

The best areas to stay in Sukhumvit are Asoke, Nana, Siam, Thonglor, Ekkamai, Phloen Chit and Chit Lom, On Nut and Phra Khanong. Each offers a unique atmosphere and a range of accommodation options, from budget to luxury hotels. 

Where did I stay in Sukhumvit?

The last time I visited Bangkok, I stayed for 6 days in Sukhumvit at the mid-range Hotel Clover Asoke. It is conveniently located within an easy distance from BTS Skytrain, MRT station, and Terminal 21. I had a nice breakfast and a clean room.

The Asoke BTS Skytrain Station and Sukhumvit MRT Station are both located in this area, providing easy access to other parts of Bangkok. This makes it convenient for travelers to explore the city and visit popular attractions.

Asoke is close to various shopping centers, including Terminal 21, one of Bangkok’s popular shopping malls known for its unique concept of themed floors representing different cities around the world.
