Ibiza is a well-known island of the Balearic Islands. It is not only famous for its vibrant nightlife and party scene, but also a great holiday destination for families and children. 

The island has beautiful white sandy beaches with crystal clear shallow water, making it a safe place for families and kids. The beaches have lifeguards, restaurants, and water sports for both children and adults to enjoy.

In addition to the beaches, there are family-friendly activities at Aguamar Water Park, mini-golf courses, go-karting tracks, horseback, and many cultural experiences in Ibiza’s Old Town.

The best area to stay in Ibiza with family are Ibiza Town, Talamanca, Santa Eulària des Riu, Es Canar, Cala Llonga, Portinatx, and Cala Tarida. They are popular family-friendly towns and resorts that have beautiful sandy beaches and a range of activities and attractions for the whole family.

Where did I stay in Ibiza?

When visiting Ibiza, I stayed for 5 days in Ibiza Town at the popular El Puerto Ibiza Hotel Spa. It has a great location, easy access to Dalt Vila, Ibiza Bus Station, and Ibiza Port. I had a clean, spacious and modern room, as well as a very good breakfast.

7 Best areas to Stay in Ibiza with Family:

1. Ibiza Town

Ibiza Town (Eivissa) is the best overall area to stay in Ibiza because it is the capital city of the island that is conveniently located close to the island’s airport and port where you can take a ferry to its neighboring Formentera island.

Ibiza Town is a well-rounded tourist destination on the island. It is primarily known as a popular party destination with a lively nightlife scene but it does offer family-friendly activities and attractions. 

As the cultural capital of the island, your family can do lots of sightseeing to visit historical landmarks, charming squares, churches, museums, and narrow cobbled streets.

Ibiza’s old town (Dalt Vila) is located in the upper part of town, overlooking the harbor, offering stunning views over the city. It is the walled city that has history dating back to the 16th century, Plaza de Vila square with lots of terrace restaurants, bars, and souvenir shops.

Some of the most popular landmarks to check out in the Old Town is the Portal de Ses Taules, which is the city’s gate; the fortified bastions, the 13th century Catedral de Santa Maria de la Neu de Vila d’Eivissa, and the the Castell d’Eivissa.

If your family is interested in the history of the area, I recommend spending some time at the Archaeological Museum, Puig des Molins Punic Necropolis, Monographic Museum, and the Museu d’Art Contemporani d’Eivissa.

You can do family shopping around the Passeig de Vara de Rey and the Plaza del Parque square, which is surrounded by restaurants, bars, and stores.

There are also many eateries, bars, nightclubs, and hippy markets, around the waterfront area, especially the Botafoch Eivissa and La Marina district. These are the most lively areas of Ibiza Town, where you can see Pacha superclub.

I know this is a family holiday, but adults who want to do more nightlife can take a look at the Hi Ibiza, Ushuaia super-clubs in Playa d’en Bossa, as well as famous Privilege and Amnesia in San Rafael. You can easily reach popular clubs on the island by a disco night bus service. 

The town has several parks and playground areas for kids to play. Parc de la Pau, for example, is a huge park with picnic tables, children’s playgrounds, and music events.

Just a few minutes drive by car or bus from Ibiza Town, families can spend a fun day out at the  Aguamar Water Park, which is located right next to Platja d’en Bossa Beach.

2. Talamanca

Playa de Talamanca is a popular beach located just within easy walking distance from the  Botafoch Marina. It is a great base for your family if you want a quiet laid back beach vacation but still close to the popular Ibiza Town with its nightlife, and historical attractions.

You can easily spend a day exploring the walled Old Town of Ibiza, which is a UNESCO world heritage center. It has lots of cultural and historical attractions to visit to learn about the island’s history.

Playa de Talamanca Beach has white and soft sand, turquoise, shallow water, great for children of all ages. Kids can play on the beach while adults can try some water sports such as jet skiing and parasailing.

The beach has sunbeds, parasols for rent, as well as restaurants, bars, toilets, and lifeguards.  The wooden promenade nearby is lined with shops and restaurants where families can enjoy a meal or refreshments while overlooking the sea.

If you follow the beach promenade around the bay, you can find a rocky headland called Sa Punta, which is a great location for  snorkeling and swimming.

Talamanca has excellent transport links and buses to  Ibiza Town and San Antonio, making it an ideal resort for families to enjoy.

Santa Eulària des Riu (Santa Eulalia) is the 3rd largest city on the island after Ibiza Town and Sant Antoni de Portmany. Located on the island’s east coast, it is a popular destination for family holidays and for a quiet holiday with a relaxed and laid-back atmosphere .

Santa Eulalia has a beautiful beach with calm waters, making it suitable for families with children. Playa De Santa Eulalia is the town’s main beach with golden sand and is lined with restaurants, bars, and shops. 

There are also smaller, more secluded coves nearby, such as Babylon Beach, Playa Niu Blau, and Cala Pada, which are great for a quieter beach experience.

Santa Eulalia is known as the island’s gastronomic and cultural center, and is home to some of the best restaurants on the island serving traditional Spanish cuisine and seafood specialties. Many restaurants and cafes can be found along the town’s main streets, Calle San Jaime and Calle San Vicente (Restaurant Street).
