There are has two distince places to stay in Tulum: Tulum Town and Tulum Beach. If you are on a budget and love authentic Mexican Taco and food, Tulum Town is a great place to stay as it offers affordable hotels and real cheaper food. If you don’t mind spending a bit more, plant to spend most of your time on the beach, and like trendy restaurants and fun nightlife, Tulum Beach will be your best place to stay in Tulum.

Finding a budget hotel to big step to save up for money. I would say it is about $70-$80 for accommodation and food for 2 people sharing. You can have a meal for about $10 per person and add another $2-5 per drink – depending on your choice. You will have better deals in Tulum town than Tulum Beach.

It is located in Tulum town, a 10-minute drive to Tulum Mayan Ruins, 5-minute walk to the restaurants, bars, shops in Avenida Tulum, 5-minute walk to the ADO bus station. Close enough to the city, calm enough to sleep.

The hotel in Tulum town has a shared kitchen to make your own meal and have free coffee with a beautiful view of the garden.

Casa Abanico offers great facilities and comfortable beds. Rooms in the hotel come with fans, air conditioning, a private bathroom, and free car parking on site.

2. Hotel Central Station Tulum

Hotel Central Station Tulum is located just beside the ADO bus station, 4.2 km to the Tulum Archeological Site. It is just a few meters away from the center where there some really cool places to eat and drink.

Casa Almendro is situated roughly 4km to the Tulum Archeological Site and just the right distance to the center of town.

Escarabajo Rojo is a 3-star hotel, set away from the hustle and bustle of  Tulum,  but still very close restaurants and supermarkets. Renting a car í an advantage if you plan on staying here. It does get buggy because you’re in the jungle.

6. La Palmita Budget Boutique Hotel

La Palmita Budget Boutique Hotel is in a great location in Tulum center, everything you need is right around the corner, close to all the nice restaurants and shops, and the beach area is a short taxi ride away. It’s just 2-minute to the main road but a quiet place to stay. 

It features a 24-hour front desk, airport transfers, a shared kitchen and free WiFi throughout the property. There is also a beautiful rooftop area to chill. This is a great hotel to stay without having to break the bank!

7. Huaya Camp Tulum Hotel 

Huaya Camp is set in Tulum town, 5km away to the beach, and it’s easy to get there on the main avenue. It has an outdoor swimming pool, restaurant, and bar.

The yurts are perfect to keep some fresh air which is very enjoyable with this hot weather. They’re well decorated with an outdoor shower area, ample space, and comfortable beds. There was a downpour while we were there and the sound of the rain on the tent was really soothing and nice.

The facilities are new, clean, and eco-friendly. Gorgeous gardens and landscaping. Filtered water is provided and the in-room AC keeps the room comfortable.

8. Casa Mango Tulum Hotel

Casa Mango is located in Tulum city center, a 20-minute drive to the beach. Each room in this hotel in Tulum town is designed like a little paradise in the middle of the jungle.

Casa Mango is an excellent place to stay. The site is packed full of tranquility and nature;  With collection farm animals, jungle wildlife, and domesticated cats and dogs this is a must for any nature lover.

This hotel also offers a restaurant and free bikes, 24-hour front desk and barbecue facilities. There are unique tropical-style décor rooms with a safety-deposit box, a seating area and a private patio overlooking the gardens. Free WiFi is available throughout.

9. Trece Lunas Tulum Hotel

Trece Lunas is a quiet oasis, surrounded by the jungle, little outside of Tulum,  roughly 6 km from Tulum Archeological Site, 3km from the Tulum Bus Station. The hotel offers an outdoor swimming pool, air-conditioned, and free Wifi.

The place is perfect if you want to get in some charming bike rides through the less busy neighborhoods of Tulum. Biking from Trece Lunas to the beach will however take you 35-40 minutes.

Ginger Tulum is in a good location in Tulum city center. The main strip of bars/ restaurants is just one block away, close enough to walk to the ADO bus station. 

This cheap hotel in Tulum town is nicely decorated, the room comfortable with a small fridge, an air-conditioned, fan and spacious private bathroom. The hotel has a small swimming pool. Ginger Tulum is  good value for money, we would definitely recommend it.

11. Hotel Casa Santiago Tulum 

Hotel Casa Santiago Tulum is located in the residential neighborhood of La Veleta, 1 mile from Tulum downtown and 3 miles from the beach,  a short 10 minute or less walk to the main road with all the shops, restaurants.

The hotel offers an outdoor pool and sun terrace with chairs, free Wifi, and private parking. Each room has air conditioning, ceiling fan, TV, terrace, or patio with a private bathroom. I would recommend you should have a car to travel to the beach or city center.

Azura Boutique Hotel has been rated 9.4 stars for good value for the money. This affordable hotel in Tulum town are well equipped and nice designed rooms, a great shower, two mini-splits, and the terrace is great and the rooftop is an awesome place to cool off after a day of sightseeing!.

There is a rooftop solarium, barbecue facilities, a tour desk, luggage storage and an ironing service. An array of activities can be enjoyed on site or in the surroundings, including golfing, cycling and fishing. The property offers free parking.

13. Huitzical Tulum Hotel 

Huitzical  is a wonderful oasis in Tulum, close to everything but still being tranquil and quiet, an amazing spot to relax after a hard day at the beach. 

Huitzical offers free bikes for all guests to use ( other hotels rent for up to 120 pesos), with which you can conveniently reach the Tulum ruins and some Cenotes. Free parking if you have a car.

If you are looking for an individual non-mass-touristy location Huitzical is the place you should go, but be aware that it will take you 20-30min via bike to go the beach and that can be pretty exhausting in the Mexican heat.

14. Villas H2O Tulum Hotel

Villas H2O is located in Tulum City center, off the main road but shops, bars, restaurants are within walking distance. This hotel features an outdoor swimming pool, air-conditioned room with private bathroom, balcony, or terrace. 

Villas H2O is a good budget hotel for families and couples. The H20 serves a continental breakfast in its large, poolside palapa. There is a small selection of shops, bars and restaurants within a 10 min walk of the hotel.

15. Kaab Tulum Hotel

Kaab Tulum is located in Tulum downtown, a quiet and safe place with a reasonably priced boutique hotel. Kaab Tulum features an outdoor swimming pool, garden, restaurant, and free private parking.

Each room in Kaab Tulum has air conditioning, a private bathroom, a desk, and a closet. Some of the rooms have a pool view and a patio.

16. Hotel Holistika Tulum Hotel

Hotel Holistika is a beautiful hotel, located on the edge of Tulum town but you feel like you’re in the middle of the jungle. It is about 10 minutes by car from the main city center – although very accessible by bicycle. 

This is one of the best Tulum hotels offers to include one yoga class per person during your stay. Bicycles are available on site for a fee. 

They also offer the Temezcal ritual (for an extra fee) 2 or 3 times a week and it was a must-do, great experience. 

The restaurant is on-site, the room was very spacious with a large balcony overlooking the pool and artsy touches such as a hammock in the room and straw basket lighting and very sleek design that felt very authentic.

17. Mango Tulum Hotel

Mango Tulum is set in the heart of downtown Tulum, close to all the places you wanted to go and far enough from downtown to not have noise when trying to sleep.

Each room has air conditioning, a fridge free wifi. All rooms offer views of the pool or garden.

18. Playa Xcanan Tulum Hotel

Playa Xcanan is in an excellent location, just right to the beach make you feel like you have your own private beach. It is also within the walking distance to all of the necessary bars, restaurants, and shops.
